Slack Integration

Install OpenClaw to embed your AI agent in Slack

Install OpenClaw as a native Slack application that lives in your sidebar. Your agent responds in threads, opens modals for structured input, and plugs into Workflow Builder — fitting seamlessly into how your team already collaborates.

CAPABILITIES

Everything the Slack integration delivers

Dedicated App Home surface

Your agent gets its own home tab in Slack's sidebar. Display dashboards, quick-action buttons, and status summaries without cluttering any channel.

Thread-aware conversation tracking

The agent follows threaded discussions and replies in context. Long-running tasks stay neatly organized within their originating thread.

Global and message-level shortcuts

Trigger agent actions from the lightning bolt menu or from the context menu on any message. No slash command required — one click is enough.

Block Kit modal interfaces

Present multi-field forms, dropdown selectors, and date pickers inside native Slack modals. Collect structured input without leaving the workspace.

Workflow Builder step integration

Expose agent capabilities as reusable steps inside Slack Workflow Builder. Non-technical team members assemble automations visually.

Slash command registration

Register custom slash commands that map directly to agent skills. Type the command, supply arguments, and the agent processes the request immediately.

Bi-directional file handling

Upload files to Slack channels or download attachments shared by users. Your agent processes spreadsheets, logs, and documents on the server side.

Enterprise Grid compatibility

Deploy the app across an entire Enterprise Grid organization. Org-wide installation, workspace-scoped permissions, and admin audit logs are all supported.

SETUP

Four steps to a working Slack app

01

Create a Slack app from scratch

Navigate to api.slack.com/apps, create a new application, and select the workspace where you want to develop and test.

02

Assign OAuth scopes and tokens

Add the required bot token scopes — chat:write, commands, files:read, files:write — then install the app to generate your Bot Token and Signing Secret.

03

Configure the integration in OpenClaw

Open the Slack integration panel in your dashboard. Enter the Bot Token, Signing Secret, and optional App-Level Token for socket mode events.

04

Install and verify in your workspace

Click Install App in the Slack developer console. Send a test message to your agent in Slack and confirm a response arrives.
