Bring Your Own Server

Your infrastructure. Our management layer.

Attach any server — from a $5 VPS to enterprise bare metal — and we handle OpenClaw installation, updates, and monitoring. You keep root access and full data sovereignty.

How it works

1

Connect your server

Provide SSH credentials for your VPS, dedicated server, or bare-metal machine through the OpenClaw dashboard.

2

Automated provisioning

Our system installs and configures OpenClaw, sets up dependencies, and initializes your agent environment.

3

Ongoing management

We handle software updates, security patches, health monitoring, and automatic recovery — around the clock.

4

You keep root access

Full administrative control stays with you at all times. SSH in whenever you want. Your server, your rules.

Why teams choose BYOS

Data Sovereignty

Your data lives on your server, in your jurisdiction. Nothing is routed through or stored on our infrastructure.

Cost Optimization

Use servers you already pay for or choose the cheapest provider for your region. No markup on infrastructure.

Compliance

Meet data residency requirements by hosting in specific countries or regulatory zones.

Existing Capacity

Put underutilized servers to productive use instead of letting them sit idle.

Common questions

What are the minimum server requirements?

2GB RAM, 1 vCPU, and 20GB of storage running Ubuntu 22.04+ or Debian 12+. Most $5-6/mo VPS instances meet these requirements.

Can I migrate between providers?

Yes. Spin up a new server, connect it through the dashboard, and we migrate your agent configuration automatically. Your old server can be decommissioned once the migration is verified.

Is BYOS included in all plans?

Yes. Bring Your Own Server is available on every plan at no additional cost. The management fee covers provisioning, updates, monitoring, and support.

What happens if my server goes offline?

Our monitoring system detects downtime within seconds and sends alerts through your configured channels. If the server recovers, your agent resumes automatically.

Can I use ARM-based servers?

Yes. OpenClaw supports both x86_64 and ARM64 architectures, so you can use ARM instances from AWS Graviton, Ampere on Oracle Cloud, or any other ARM provider.
